ISJ Launches Huíla Provincial Gaming Service

ANGOLA- The Angola’s gambling regulator, the Gaming Supervision Institute (ISJ), has established a new Provincial Service in Huíla. This new service will oversee gaming activities across three provinces. It covers Huíla itself, along with Benguela and Huambo. The ISJ presented the service formally at a ceremony in Huíla. Representatives from public institutions, gaming operators, and local stakeholders attended the event.

Officials Highlight Cooperation and Compliance

Dr Nascimento Caetano opened the ceremony on behalf of Huíla Provincial finance delegate Dr Brandão Bartolomeu. He highlighted the importance of cooperation. Specifically, he stressed teamwork between the ISJ and other institutions. This cooperation helps enforce the rules governing gaming activities across the region.

During the event, ISJ southern regional head Dr Abel Carlos Buzi Nduli took the floor. He explained the Institute’s structure and core responsibilities. He also outlined the legal framework governing gaming in Angola. Furthermore, he detailed the ISJ’s focus on three key areas. These include responsible gaming, tackling illegal gambling, and ensuring operators meet their regulatory obligations.

New Service Supports Decentralisation Strategy

This new provincial service fits into a bigger plan. It forms part of the ISJ’s broader decentralisation strategy. The goal is to expand the Institute’s regional presence. In addition, the strategy aims to strengthen engagement with communities, operators, and public authorities.

With Huíla as its base, the service will also cover Benguela and Huambo. This setup gives the Institute a stronger regional structure. As a result, the ISJ can respond more quickly to developments across all three provinces. The move should also make regulatory interventions easier. Moreover, it should improve communication with stakeholders throughout the Southern Region.

Focus on Citizen Protection and Illegal Gambling

The initiative places strong emphasis on responsible gaming. It also prioritises protecting citizens across the region. At the same time, the ISJ is strengthening efforts to identify illegal gambling activities. Closer engagement with operators should support better compliance. This applies to both legislation and regulatory requirements across the sector.

ISJ Reaffirms Commitment to Stronger Regulation

Nduli delivered the closing remarks on behalf of ISJ director-general Dr Nerethz Tati. He reaffirmed the Institute’s commitment to institutional proximity. He also emphasised the importance of citizen protection. Finally, he stressed the need for stronger regulation of gaming activities across Angola.
