Limpopo Gambling Board Boosts CSR Support

Regulator Invests in Vulnerable Communities

SOUTH AFRICA- The Limpopo Gambling Board (LGB) has provided R435,595 (US$26,939) in corporate social responsibility (CSR) support. This funding helps organisations and individuals supporting vulnerable communities across the province. The Limpopo Gambling Board shared these details in a social media post on August 13. The post outlined several CSR interventions. These included gender-based violence awareness and disability support initiatives.

Funding Strengthens Gender-Based Violence Campaigns

The LGB purchased gender-based violence awareness materials for The Eye of the Nation. This support totalled R150,795 (US$9,339). The funding aims to strengthen the organisation’s campaigns. These campaigns educate communities about gender-based violence. They also help protect vulnerable groups across the region.

Wheelchairs Support Disadvantaged Youth

The Limpopo Gambling Board also donated 19 wheelchairs. These wheelchairs went to the KG Maluleke Memorial Disability Integration Organization. The donation was valued at R140,400 (US$8,696). It specifically targets young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. These individuals often cannot afford mobility aids on their own.

In addition, the board handed a wheelchair to a learner with a disability. The learner attends Ntodeni Secondary School in Gaba Village. Previously, the student relied on fellow learners and teachers for mobility. This donation should give the learner greater independence. It also reduces the need to depend on others while moving around school.

CSR Programme Reaches Zebediela Care Centre

The board’s CSR programme also extended to Khomotsong Care Centre for the Disabled in Zebediela. Residents there received additional wheelchairs. The donations took place during Mandela Day celebrations, adding extra meaning to the gesture.

Provincial Leadership Officiates the Ceremony

Limpopo MEC for Social Development Fulufhelo Florence Radzilani officiated the ceremony. Her presence highlighted the provincial government’s support for the initiative. Overall, these efforts show how the Limpopo Gambling Board continues to promote dignity. The board also works to improve access to assistance for vulnerable people across the province.
