Botswana to Host Pan-African Gaming Tax Summit in September

Botswana will host the Pan-African Gaming Taxation and Revenue Summit (PAGTR) 2026 as regulators across the continent intensify efforts to modernise gambling taxation, strengthen oversight, and harness technology in rapidly evolving gaming markets.

The summit is scheduled for September 9–10 at the Grand Palm Hotel Casino & Convention Resort in Gaborone, under the theme “Shaping Smart Tax Policy for a Sustainable Gaming Economy.” It will bring together regulators, tax authorities, policymakers, and industry leaders to examine taxation reform, regulatory cooperation, and technology-driven compliance.

Originally planned for September 17–18, the event was rescheduled to allow delegates to also attend the Gaming Regulators Africa Forum (GRAF) Conference in Mozambique from September 14–17. Organisers said the revised calendar would create greater opportunities for dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing across Africa’s gaming industry.

As governments reassess regulatory frameworks, issues of revenue collection, market oversight, and long-term sustainability are moving higher on the agenda. PAGTR 2026 is expected to provide a platform for regulators and stakeholders to share insights and explore solutions to the challenges facing the sector.
