Congo Reaffirms Gambling Reform Agenda at Gaming Tech Summit Africa 2026
The Democratic Republic of Congo has restated its commitment to modernising gambling regulation and strengthening oversight of the sector during the Gaming Tech Summit Africa 2026, held in Nairobi from June 2 to 4.
A delegation from the Cell for the Supervision of Gambling and Games of Chance (CSJA), representing Finance Minister Doudou Fwamba Likunde Li-Botayi, attended the summit to showcase reforms currently being implemented in the DRC’s gambling industry.
The Congolese delegation participated in high-level discussions covering gambling taxation, technological innovation, digital payment systems, regulatory compliance, and measures to combat money laundering and terrorist financing. Officials said the reforms are designed to bring greater transparency, accountability, and sustainability to the country’s gaming sector.
By using the Nairobi summit as a platform, the DRC signaled its intention to align with continental best practices while positioning its gambling industry for growth under a stronger regulatory framework.
