Angola – Gaming Supervision Institute (ISJ) wants citizens to help oversee gambling. It is encouraging public participation in this work. The regulator warns that illegal gaming machines can harm the security and transparency of gambling. This applies to machines operating in unauthorised locations.
The ISJ shared its message during Responsible Gambling Week. The week ran from October 12 to 18. The regulator said machines without proper authorisation create risks. They can harm players and the wider community. They can also expose citizens to irregular gambling practices.
A Collective Responsibility
The ISJ made its position clear in its responsible gambling message. “Combating illegal gambling is a collective responsibility,” it said. In addition, it gave the public a direct instruction. “Illegal gaming machines? Do not participate. Report them.”
The regulator also called on citizens to protect their communities. People should report any suspected illegal gaming machines directly to the institute. As a result, the public can help the ISJ spot problems faster.
Campaign Follows Other ISJ Initiatives
This awareness campaign is not an isolated effort. It follows other steps the ISJ has taken to strengthen oversight in Angola.
In September, the regulator met municipal authorities in Huíla and Benguela. The meetings aimed to coordinate efforts against illegal gambling. They also targeted unauthorised advertising.
Workshop Explains Authorisation Rules
On October 8, the ISJ held a workshop on authorisation procedures. It covered promotional draws, raffles, and prize competitions. It also explained the rules for gaming equipment imports.
The regulator also signalled its next move. It plans to intensify inspections of gambling businesses. Together, these steps show a clear push for a safer and more transparent gambling industry. Public reports on illegal gaming machines could support that push.
