Benin’s National Lottery LNB Issues Tender for Six-Month Audit of Gaming Platforms and M-DATA System

Benin-  National Lottery (LNB) has issued a tender for a major audit. The review will cover its gaming platforms and internal M-DATA system. LNB uses M-DATA to centralise sales data across its network. This move comes as the lottery expands its digital operations nationwide.

According to the Benin Public Procurement Portal, the tender scope is clear. It covers an “audit of LNB platforms: gaming platforms and M-DATA data aggregation platform.” The submission deadline falls on August 27, 2026. Meanwhile, LNB’s 2026 procurement plan sets the estimated value at FCFA58.7m (US$98,000).

Six-Month Assessment Targets Key Systems

The assessment is expected to run for six months. It will cover LNB’s information systems in detail. The review also extends to systems belonging to private technology partners. According to La Marina BJ, the review will focus on three key areas. These are reliability, security, and functional compliance across all systems.

The assessment will dig deep into the platform’s supporting infrastructure. This includes access management and data security protocols. Monitoring systems and connections will also fall under scrutiny. Specifically, auditors will examine links between LNB and private sports-betting operators. These operators currently function under LNB’s licence.

Technical testing will play a major role in this process. Penetration testing is expected to form part of the assessment. Checks on gaming algorithms will also feature prominently. Random number generators will undergo careful review as well.

LNB’s Broader Digital Transformation

This audit arrives during a period of major change for LNB. The lottery is implementing a broader transformation programme currently. This follows notably stronger first-half financial performance this year. In its first-half report, LNB highlighted this positive trend. “The first half of 2026 confirms the relevance of LNB SA’s transformation strategy launched at the beginning of the year,” the lottery said.

The numbers tell a strong story for LNB this year. Net profit increased by 60%, reaching FCFA1.348bn (US$2.4m). Revenue also grew steadily, rising 4% to FCFA49.937bn (US$87.8m). Looking ahead, LNB plans further expansion in the coming months. The lottery will deploy 1,500 new terminals in the second half of 2026. This move aims to expand its distribution network significantly.

Audit Strengthens Technology and Security Focus

This audit adds an important new layer to LNB’s expansion plans. The lottery increasingly relies on systems that process gaming activity. These same systems also centralise sales data across the network. As a result, strengthening oversight of this infrastructure becomes essential.

The review also fits into a broader national trend. Benin continues pushing toward technology-led gambling oversight generally. On June 24, the country took a significant step forward. The Gaming Sector Supervision Unit awarded a major contract that day. French RegTech company Sharp Vision received this FCFA1.8bn (US$3m) deal. The contract aims to strengthen monitoring across Benin’s gambling sector.

Audit to Produce Risk Roadmap

Ultimately, this six-month assessment will deliver concrete results. It’s expected to produce a prioritised map of LNB’s technical risks. The review will also generate an operational roadmap. This roadmap will guide LNB’s technology strategy over the short and medium term.
