LONAB Hits 102% of H1 2026 Target
Burkina Faso- Â National Lottery (LONAB) has posted strong results for the first half of 2026. The lottery achieved 102% of its planned objectives during this period. Management highlighted this performance during a recent meeting. The results reflect continued momentum across LONAB’s national network.
Director General Ibrahim Zarani shared this figure during a meeting with agency heads. He met with leaders from six agencies under LONAB’s Bobo-Dioulasso main agency. This meeting formed part of a broader tour led by Board President Maxime Compaoré. The tour aims to better understand conditions on the ground. It also seeks to strengthen support for teams and share strategic priorities.
Regional Teams Share Results and Challenges
Zarani praised the collective effort behind these strong results. “A result that reflects the collective commitment of teams across the country,” he said. This statement, shared in a LONAB statement, underscores the nationwide effort involved.
Six operations took part in the meeting. These included Dédougou, Houndé, Boromo, Banfora, Gaoua, and the Bobo-Dioulasso sales department. Managers from each location presented their activities. They also shared staffing levels and outlined operational difficulties they currently face.
Board President Praises Staff Performance
Compaoré congratulated staff on their strong achievements. He encouraged teams to maintain this performance momentum. This momentum has continued steadily since the start of the year. He also confirmed the Board’s ongoing commitment to supporting management.
Furthermore, Compaoré pledged to advocate with relevant authorities. He wants solutions for issues raised during the meeting. These issues particularly involve human resources, equipment, and infrastructure needs.
Managers Highlight Operational Challenge
Several managers raised specific concerns during the discussions. These included insufficient personnel across multiple agencies. Internet connectivity problems also emerged as a recurring issue. In addition, managers pointed to a shortage of terminals at various locations.
Working conditions posed another challenge for some teams. Certain agencies currently operate from borrowed premises. This situation creates additional operational difficulties for staff on the ground.
LONAB Strengthens Internal Controls
The discussions also covered important governance topics. Participants focused on strict compliance with internal procedures. They also addressed stronger hierarchical control of funds across the network. Liquidity management and intensified internal controls were key themes as well.

Finally, LONAB urged agency heads and sales teams to increase their field presence. The lottery also called for systematic mission reports. These reports will help improve activity monitoring across all regions going forward.
