Senegal’s LONASE Advances Toward WLA Level 3 Certification with New Addiction-Care Centre

Senegal- National Lottery (LONASE) intends to progress toward an important milestone. The lottery aims for Level 3 of the World Lottery Association’s (WLA) Responsible Gaming programme. In addition, LONASE plans to create a new integrated addiction-care centre.

LONASE director general Abdourahmane Doura Baldé announced this forthcoming centre recently. He made the announcement on September 23 specifically. Baldé received the lottery’s Responsible Gaming Committee that day. The committee had just returned from an international seminar in Milan. This event focused on Responsible Gaming and Sustainable Development. It ran from September 16 to 18, according to CNM.

Delegation Presents Level 2 Certificate

During this meeting, the delegation achieved something important for LONASE. They formally presented Baldé with the lottery’s Level 2 certificate. This certification falls under the WLA Responsible Gaming programme specifically.

Several key figures attended this significant meeting. LONASE Secretary General Moussa Thiam was present throughout. Cheikh Senghor led the delegation for this occasion. He serves as Coordinator of the General Management. Senghor also holds the role of President of the Responsible Gaming Committee.

New Centre Will Focus on Prevention and Care

The planned Centre intégré de prise en charge des addictions represents a significant investment. This integrated addiction-care centre serves several important purposes. It will focus on prevention for people at risk. The centre will also provide support for those already affected. Care for people experiencing addiction-related problems remains central to its mission.

This announcement forms part of LONASE’s wider responsible-gaming efforts. Player-protection measures continue to expand across the organisation. As a result, this centre represents a natural next step for LONASE.

LONASE Targets Level 3 Certification Next

Looking ahead, LONASE intends to continue its certification journey. The lottery aims to reach Level 3 of the WLA programme eventually. International standards and good practices will guide this process. LONASE plans to use these as key reference points going forward.

This latest announcement builds on earlier progress for LONASE. The lottery obtained its WLA Level 2 certification back in July 2026. According to LONASE, this certification process involved careful evaluation. Officials assessed the lottery’s practices against an international reference framework. This process also helped identify areas needing further improvement.

Responsible Gaming Remains a Core Priority

LONASE’s responsible-gaming priorities cover several important areas overall. Protecting minors ranks among the lottery’s top concerns. Preventing risks linked to excessive gambling also matters greatly. Additionally, LONASE focuses on informing and educating players consistently. Together, these priorities shape the lottery’s broader approach to responsible gaming.
