PMU Mali Sends Delegation to Côte d’Ivoire’s LONACI for Two-Day Performance Benchmarking Mission
Mali- The country’s horse-racing betting operator, has completed an important mission recently. The organisation sent a senior delegation to Côte d’Ivoire’s National Lottery (LONACI). This benchmarking mission took place over two days. The visit ran from September 3-4 at LONACI’s facilities.
The PMU Mali delegation included two senior officials specifically. Abdoul Karim Sidibé attended as deputy technical director-general. Drissa Coulibaly also joined as deputy commercial director. LONACI welcomed this delegation warmly during the visit. Director-general Dramane Coulibaly personally received the visitors. Other LONACI officials also took part in hosting duties.
Mission Aims to Strengthen Operations
PMU Mali explained the clear purpose behind this benchmarking mission. The organisation aimed at “strengthening its practices and continuously improving its performance.” This statement highlights the mission’s core goal directly.
This visit brings together two well-established gaming organisations. Both operate prominently across West Africa’s gaming landscape. PMU Mali runs operations spanning horse-racing, lottery, and sports betting. Meanwhile, LONACI holds an impressive certification from the World Lottery Association. Specifically, LONACI has earned Level 3 Responsible Gaming certification. This achievement underscores LONACI’s strong commitment to player protection. Risk management and international standards also feature prominently in this certification.
Second Regional Benchmarking Mission This Year
This LONACI visit doesn’t stand alone for PMU Mali. It follows a similar benchmarking mission conducted earlier this year. Back in February, PMU Mali visited Senegal’s LONASE for comparable purposes. During that visit, the organisation exchanged valuable expertise on several topics. These included gaming operations and technology adoption specifically. Digitalisation and responsible gaming practices also featured in those discussions.
LONACI Pursues Digital Modernisation
Beyond hosting this benchmarking visit, LONACI continues pursuing its own growth. The operator is actively pursuing digitalisation and operational modernisation currently. This includes important upgrades to its distribution network. Stronger operational security also forms part of these improvement efforts.
These modernisation efforts support ambitious financial targets for LONACI. The operator is targeting FCFA744bn (US$1.33bn) in revenue for 2026. This follows already strong performance from the previous year. LONACI generated more than FCFA650bn (US$1.16bn) in revenue during 2025.
