Uganda’s Gaming Regulator Shuts Illegal Gaming Shops
UGANDA- The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) has closed four illegal gaming shops in Kibuku Town during an intelligence‑led enforcement operation under Operation Mashine Haramu.
Investigations revealed the establishments were allegedly linked to Chinese national Liang Zhang Chen. Acting on informant tips, enforcement officers searched Zhang Chen’s residence in Pallisa, uncovering a workshop believed to be used for manufacturing gaming equipment.
The NLGRB commended the Regional Police Commander, the Regional CID Officer for Bukedi, and Kibuku District Police officers for their support, as well as the informant whose information proved critical.
The Board urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious gaming activities, stressing its commitment to building a regulated, responsible, and compliant gaming sector in Uganda.
