Senegal’s Gambling Sector Generates $71M in Q1 2026 Amid Tax Reforms, Online Growth
Senegal’s gambling sector generated US$71 million (CFA40.9 billion) in Q1 2026, according to Finance Minister Cheikh DIBA, reflecting the growing impact of tax reforms and the expansion of online gaming in the country.
Speaking at the African Lotteries Association (ALA) seminar in Dakar themed “Development and Innovation of African Lotteries,” Diba said the government is increasingly prioritizing domestic resource mobilization amid ongoing budgetary pressures.
He noted that the double taxation measures introduced in 2025 are beginning to yield results, strengthening both regulation and revenue generation within the sector.
According to Diba, the industry achieved a 71% coverage rate in the first quarter, highlighting gambling’s growing contribution to public revenue and economic development in Senegal.
“The results observed so far demonstrate the sector’s dynamism and its potential for resource mobilisation,” he stated.
