Ghana’s Gaming Commission GCG Completes Two-Day Enterprise Risk-Management Training Led by Internal Audit Agency

Ghana- The Gaming Commission of Ghana (GCG) has completed a two-day training programme. The programme focused on enterprise risk management. Ghana’s Internal Audit Agency (IAA) led the sessions. The GCG wants to strengthen how it manages risks across its regulatory work.

The training took place at the Commission’s premises. It ran on September 14 and 15. Staff learned ways of dealing with risks that could affect the regulator’s work. The IAA’s Enterprise Risk Management Directorate delivered the programme.

Training Builds Risk-Spotting Skills

The IAA explained the goal of the sessions clearly. The training focused on building the GCG’s ability to spot risks. It also aimed to help staff deal with those risks quickly. Staff can now apply these skills as part of their day-to-day work.

This approach matters for any regulator. Early risk detection can prevent bigger problems later. As a result, strong risk management supports better regulatory decisions across the gambling sector.

IAA Leadership Opens the Programme

Dr Cynthia Sallah opened the training on behalf of the IAA. She serves as the agency’s deputy director-general for Technical and Field Operations. She represented the IAA’s Director-General at the opening. Her presence highlighted the agency’s support for the GCG’s efforts.

GCG Continues Developing Its Regulatory Approach

The training comes as the GCG continues to develop its approach to gambling regulation. In May, the Commission marked its 20th anniversary. During those celebrations, the GCG highlighted the use of technology and data in regulation. Investor confidence and responsible gambling also emerged as important issues. Officials identified both as key priorities for the sector.

Together, these efforts show a clear direction. The GCG wants stronger internal controls alongside better use of technology. This mix could help the regulator keep pace with a changing industry.
