WCGRB PROPOSES RESPONSIBLE GAMBLING DAY 2026 TO UNITE WESTERN CAPE OPERATORS

SOUTH AFRICA- The Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board (WCGRB) has unveiled plans for a new industry engagement initiative, Play Your Part: Responsible Gambling Day 2026, aimed at promoting responsible gambling awareness and fostering stronger collaboration among licensed gambling operators across the province.

The proposed initiative scheduled for November 2026 will bring together license holders for a day of team-building activities, creative challenges, and educational initiatives focused on responsible gambling practices.

According to the WCGRB, the initiative is designed to encourage greater cooperation within the gambling sector while reinforcing the industry’s shared responsibility to prevent gambling-related harm. Under the theme “Play Your Part,” the event seeks to highlight the important role operators and other stakeholders play in promoting safer gambling environments and raising awareness about the risks associated with gambling.

The Board has invited licensed operators in the Western Cape to submit expressions of interest in participating in the event. The deadline for submissions has been set for October 23, 2026, with detailed invitations and additional information to be distributed directly to license holders.

The WCGRB noted that the event will proceed subject to sufficient interest from participants and the completion of the necessary planning arrangements. Through the initiative, the regulator hopes to strengthen industry engagement, encourage collective action, and advance responsible gambling awareness efforts across the province.

The proposed Responsible Gambling Day forms part of the WCGRB’s broader commitment to promoting responsible gambling practices and supporting initiatives that help reduce gambling-related harm within the Western Cape.
