Uganda’s NLGRB Sets Out Key Requirements for 2027 Gaming Licence Renewals

Uganda’s National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) has outlined key compliance and responsible gaming expectations for operators ahead of the 2027 licence renewal cycle.

Speaking at the Board’s Annual Pre-Licensing Stakeholder Engagement with Gaming Operators, Board Chairperson Kenneth Kitariko stressed the importance of compliance, transparency, responsible gaming and constructive engagement between the regulator and industry.

Kitariko reminded operators that maintaining a gaming licence comes with legal, financial and social responsibilities. Operators are expected to comply with applicable laws and licence conditions, submit accurate and timely regulatory reports, protect players and meet their tax and other regulatory obligations.

The NLGRB also encouraged operators to engage openly with the Board on compliance challenges, emerging technologies and opportunities to improve regulatory processes while maintaining regulatory integrity.

The Board said firm regulation, predictable rules and open dialogue will remain central to its engagement with operators as Uganda works towards a lawful, responsible, innovative and sustainable gaming sector.
