Uganda’s Principal Judge Commends NLGRB’s Gambling Regulation Efforts at National Court Open Day
Uganda- Principal Judge, Jane Frances Abodo of the High Court, has offered strong praise recently. She commended the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) directly. Her praise focused on the Board’s efforts regulating the gambling sector. This recognition came during an important public event.
The NLGRB shared details about this honour in a recent post. The regulator said it felt honoured hosting Abodo at its exhibition. This took place during Uganda’s third National Court Open Day. The event happened on September 10 at Kololo Independence Grounds in Kampala.
Judge’s Remarks Highlight Public Awareness
According to the NLGRB, Abodo’s comments carried real significance. She commended “NGLRB Uganda for its efforts in regulating the gaming sector.” Her remarks reaffirmed something important for the regulator. Public awareness plays a crucial role in protecting citizens effectively. It also supports proper enforcement of gambling laws nationwide.
The broader event carried a meaningful theme throughout. Organisers built it around “Delivering Inclusive, Efficient and Effective Justice.” A total of 88 exhibitors confirmed their participation in this event. These exhibitors came from the Judiciary and other justice-sector institutions. According to UG Standard, the event served an important purpose. It provided a platform for direct public engagement. Organisers also gathered feedback on justice delivery through this event.
NLGRB Engages Public on Gaming Laws
At its exhibition specifically, the NLGRB engaged visitors on several topics. These included gaming laws and licensing requirements directly. Compliance standards and responsible gaming practices also featured prominently. Throughout these conversations, the NLGRB explained its core role clearly. The Board works to protect the public from gaming’s adverse effects.
Third National Court Open Day Builds on Tradition
This September event marked Uganda’s third National Court Open Day overall. It followed a second edition held back in December 2025. That earlier event focused on similar themes specifically. Public engagement around licensing and compliance featured prominently then too. Responsible gambling and consumer protection also received attention during that edition.
NLGRB Also Supports Safer Gambling Week
This public engagement coincided with another significant initiative for the NLGRB. The Board was also participating in Africa’s first Safer Gambling Week. This campaign ran from September 7-11 across the continent. Uganda joined other regulators and organisations supporting this important effort. The #PlaySafeAfrica campaign focused specifically on responsible gambling. Player protection also formed a central theme throughout this campaign.
NLGRB CEO Denis Ngabirano commented on Uganda’s participation in this campaign. He explained what this involvement reflects about the Board’s priorities. Uganda’s participation demonstrates the NLGRB’s clear focus areas. The Board wants gaming to remain lawful and transparent throughout the country. Entertainment value matters too, alongside maintaining genuine safety standards.
