Ghana Launches Nationwide Enforcement as NLA Cracks Down on Unregistered Lotto Agents
Ghana’s National Lottery Authority (NLA) has commenced nationwide compliance inspections following the close of its mandatory registration exercise for lotto agents and writers, ushering in a new enforcement phase under its “No Sticker, No Sales” initiative.
In a public notice issued on 17 July, the Authority confirmed that its Compliance Team has begun inspections across the country to ensure that all authorised lotto agents have complied with the new registration requirements.
The registration exercise, conducted in partnership with the Concerned Lotto Agents Association (CLAA), forms part of the NLA’s broader strategy to strengthen oversight of Ghana’s lottery sector, improve consumer confidence, and curb illegal lottery operations.
‘No Sticker, No Sales’ Takes Effect
Under the new enforcement framework, every registered lotto agent and writer who has successfully completed the registration process and paid the required fees must prominently display an official NLA compliance sticker at their kiosk or sales outlet. The stickers will enable players and compliance officers to easily identify authorised lottery vendors.
The inspections officially mark the implementation of the Authority’s “No Sticker, No Sales” campaign.
The NLA has warned that any lotto agent or writer operating without registration and an official compliance sticker will not be permitted to sell lottery products in Ghana and will face enforcement action.
With inspections now underway, the NLA says the initiative is expected to strengthen regulatory compliance, enhance consumer protection, and reinforce efforts to eliminate unauthorised lottery sales across Ghana.
