Sizekhaya Holdings Partners with South African Post Office to Expand National Lottery Access to 60 Branches

SOUTH AFRICA- Sizekhaya CEO Lebogang Ndadana explained the thinking behind this partnership. He said it would make the National Lottery more accessible overall. Customers now have additional locations available to purchase tickets.

“The National Lottery belongs to the people of South Africa, so we want to make it as easy and convenient as possible for people to participate, wherever they live,” Ndadana said. He also praised the Post Office’s extensive reach. “The Post Office has a footprint that reaches communities across the country, and this partnership gives people even more places to buy their National Lottery tickets as part of their everyday lives. We’re delighted to be working with SAPO and look forward to growing the partnership.”

Post Office Expands Its Lottery Role

Acting CEO of SAPO Fathima Gany also weighed in on the announcement. She explained how the partnership fits into SAPO’s broader strategy. “The partnership with Sizekhaya supports our strategy to diversify revenue while expanding the range of services available through our branch network,” Gany said. “It strengthens our value proposition by providing customers with greater convenience and more reasons to visit their local Post Office.”

Participating branches will offer another convenient service too. They can pay National Lottery winnings up to R2,000 (US$124) directly. Gany confirmed this rollout represents just the first phase. Further expansion plans depend on an assessment of these initial branches’ performance.

Looking ahead, SAPO and Sizekhaya are exploring additional options. Both organisations are engaging with a leading commercial bank currently. This collaboration could eventually enable higher-value winnings payments. Selected Post Office branches may offer this expanded service in the future.

Nationwide Coverage Across All Nine Provinces

This rollout achieves impressive geographic coverage right from the start. The 60 branches span all nine South African provinces. As a result, the National Lottery’s retail reach extends significantly across the country. The rollout covers Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Western Cape. It also includes the Eastern Cape, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga. North West, Free State, and Northern Cape round out the coverage.
