NLC Conducts Lottery Funding Workshop in Durban
South Africa’s National Lotteries Commission (NLC) has intensified its stakeholder engagement drive in KwaZulu-Natal, hosting an education and awareness workshop at the Wentworth Youth Centre in Durban’s Bluff area.
The workshop brought together civil society organisations and community stakeholders, providing practical guidance on the Commission’s regulatory role and the process of accessing lottery funding.
According to the NLC, the initiative forms part of its mandate under the Lotteries Amendment Act, which requires the regulator to promote public awareness around lottery regulation and support prospective applicants in understanding funding requirements and application procedures.
Sessions held during the outreach covered key operational areas including grant agreements, adjudication processes, project monitoring, report writing, society lotteries, and player protection measures.
The Durban engagement is one of several nationwide awareness programmes being rolled out by the Commission as it seeks to improve transparency, strengthen stakeholder understanding, and encourage responsible participation within South Africa’s lottery ecosystem.
